Intake Process

SCALE Admission Process

1. Referral Submission: The Home School must complete an Alternative Education Referral by the first day of suspension, submitting it to both the SCALE office and the GCS Hearing Officer.

2. Assignment: The Hearing Officer will assign the student to SCALE.

3. Intake Appointment: An intake appointment will be scheduled with the student’s parent or guardian.

4. Intake Assessment: The Student Services Team, in collaboration with the Principal, will conduct an intake assessment involving both the student and their parent or guardian.

5. Commencement of Enrollment: Upon successful completion of the intake process, including the arrangement of bus transportation, the student will begin classes at SCALE Greensboro. A class schedule will be provided on the first day of school.

Eligibility Requirements

• Recommendation for long-term suspension from a GCS school
• Assignment to SCALE by the Hearing Officer
• Must be a middle or high school student
